function
I am drawn to functional, overlooked, often archaic
forms and objects in which design is dictated by use.
These objects often reside solidly in the domestic sphere.
I incorporate processes of hybridization, reconfiguration,
and surface refinement in order to reinterpret these
objects. Scale, material, and process are all critical
components; by engaging formal and functional issues,
I create incongruous objects. Aspects of the original
form remain intact, yet new information and meaning
can be applied through the process of such alteration.
